I begin each piece by drawing an underlying graph-inspired structure. Similar to jazz, that form sets the rules, limits the possibilities & guides the improvisation ~ a layering on of edges, color, texture & depth.

The results evoke the entanglement of restraint & spontaneity, stability & mobility, suspended animation & release, tempo & its corresponding organization, structure & networks. Balance is left to the viewer.
